Are you also getting tingly at the first signs of spring? After the cosy winter months, would you like to get out of the house as much as possible with your child? From active over relaxing to quiet activities, we collected some fun ideas to go out with your child.
1. Playground
The playground is by far the most popular outdoor activity for children. No wonder because playgrounds are good for hours of fun for a lot of children. Sitting on the swing, running around, making contact with other chidlren ... It's all possible there.
Does your child not like sand? Then choose an outdoor playground with soft playing tiles en some green around it. If your child loves sand, then find out which playground in your neighbourhood has a sand surface or even a sandbox. Bring some sand toys and your little one will love it!

In an outdoor playground, your child's hands may get smeared. Your little one will get home clean with wet wipes.
2. Picnics
Picnics may seem a nice activity especially for grown ups but nothing could be further from the truth. Children often enjoy eating in the open air. Especially toddlers and preschoolers can still be very surprised to see an insect, a bird or a flower.
For a successful picnic, bring a large sheet or blanket. This way you don't sit in dirt and you have a place to spread your belongings comfortably. Make yourself comfortable and take everything with you in handy lockable bowls. Be sure to bring a nice drinking bottle for your little one so that he drinks enough.
Choose a place with plenty of space for your little one to walk around safely and enjoy a wonderful moment in nature – and the enthusiasm of your child.

Some picnic meadows are not really shady. So be sure to bring a sun hat and sun cream, because picnics in the sun sometimes last longer than expected.
3. Barefoot paths
If you have ever walked on a barefoot path yourself, then you know how adventurous it can be. Keeping your balance in the mud, walking through a stream of water or a low pond... It's all part of the experience.
Walking with your toes in the mud feels completely different than walking with footwear. Everything is pure nature and just a bit more exciting. The ideal trip for small ravotters!
On the National Trust website you will find a top ten of the best barefoot trails in the UK. View the overview here.
4. Petting zoo
The petting zoo is another classic. Do you have a small animal friend at home? Then a visit to the farm will be a bull's eye! Children can see the animals very closely. Sometimes they can touch the animals or enter the stable or walk up the meadow under supervision.
Some petting zoos also organize special activities such as shearing sheep or brushing horses. Would you also like to introduce your little one to more exotic animals? That is also possible, because llamas and storks are no longer rarities on our petting zoos.
Many children's farms offer delicacies. Often there are pancakes or ice creams with milk or eggs from the farm.
5. Open-air museum
It is no coincidence that a visit to an open-air museum is a popular family trip. Not only is it educational and fun to look inside buildings and houses from the past, outdoor museums are also located in a green environment. So you can enjoy a nice walk.
Does the open-air museum also rent bicycles or carts? Fantastic! Then the trip for your little one becomes an adventure on two or four wheels.

6. Castle park
Do you want more than a regular walk? Then visit a castle with a park or garden. Castle ramparts, a castle moat, a drawbridge ... all of them are exciting discoveries for your child, who will soon imagine themselves to be a knight or princess.
Walking quickly makes you thirsty and hungry. So be sure to provide a drinking bottle that you can close properly and put some healthy snacks in a handy food box.

7. Trip on the water
Also go out sailing and go out on the water with your little one. Maybe you have a real sailor at home!
Would you like to be sailed? Then choose an organized boat trip and enjoy without worry. Would you like some more action? Then go for a real rowing boat and throw all your muscle strength into battle. And give your child the impression that that power comes from him or her 😉.
